Connections and timings
All Malta to Delhi itineraries connect. Gulf carriers via Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi dominate the route and typically arrive in Delhi in the small hours or early morning; European hubs such as Istanbul, Frankfurt and Vienna give a wider spread of arrival times.
Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (DEL) is a modern airport where international arrivals use Terminal 3. Many domestic onward flights also leave from Terminal 3, but some low-cost services use Terminal 1, which is a separate building — allow time if you are connecting.
Best months to fly
October to March is Delhi's most comfortable period. The city is genuinely hot from April to June, the monsoon arrives around July, and December and January can be cold in the mornings with fog that occasionally delays early flights.
Diwali is the single busiest travel period of the Indian year and lifts both airfare and hotel rates well before the date itself.
Using Delhi as a base
Delhi is the usual starting point for the Golden Triangle with Agra and Jaipur, both reachable by train or car in a few hours. It is also the best-connected Indian airport for onward domestic flights to Kerala, Goa, Rajasthan and the Himalayan foothills.
If your trip continues within India, price the domestic sector separately as well as part of the through-ticket — the difference is sometimes worth the extra booking.
